Our selected trees are all native species. Native woodland is now rare habitat and we hope to create a new health pocket for nature. We've given details below of the fifteen different trees we are looking to plant for you to browse.
There are some native species, such as Ash and Elm, which are left off our list for tree health reasons, and others like Yew and Wild Bird Cherry because they have poisonous properties. We have selected trees which will enjoy our soils and climate, other native species such as the Scots Pine and Beech favour different growing conditions. There are many more trees like Sycamore, Walnut, Chestnuts and Plums, which are naturalised and grow locally, they are now part of our landscape but were at some point introduced to the UK, as we are seeking a native woodland we have left them off our list for now. If there is a particular native or naturalised tree which is important to you, please get in touch and we will consider it. Please be aware that to protect local habitats we are not seeking to plant any exotic trees.
These photos were all taken locally by us, when we find an Aspen and a Wild Service Tree to photo we will add them, even if we have to grow some first!
